6/10 My Final Animation Project: My Halloween Adventure

This is my final project for my web design class. I had about two weeks to complete this project. I first had to come up with a proposal and once my teacher said yes to the idea, I had to create an outline. The outline was used to lay out the multiple scenes I needed to create and describe any important details pertaining to that specific scene. I was given a sheet to record all that I have done in that one period in creating a scene. I had two parts to the movie. One part was creating the scenes in class and the other was to record a dialogue /narration at home. In the end, I wish I had more time to get the narration to align with the scenes. I am glad that I finished what I could and it wasn't incomplete.

Goal of Animation - To showcase the audience what had happened to me during Halloween.
Learning Reflection on Project - I learned that in order to make a character to movie, you have to use various frames and onion skins to see what the character had done in the last frame. While recording the narration, I kept messing up and would start all over. I would say in total, I created about 20-35 recording to get it right. It was annoying because I was repeating the same things over and over and it was overwhelming. I'm glad that it's completed but I was completely happy with it. To work so hard and see the finished project not the way you wanted it is really hard to take it all in. At that point I was like just upload it and be proud to stand by the work that I created.
Yet to be Completed on Project - If I had more time, I would've edited my narration to align with the scenes the narration pertains to.

5/8 Public Awareness Advertisement

For the past two weeks, I have been working on a Public Awareness Advertisement. Since I'm in the nursing house, my topic for the ad is about smoking. I also chose this topic because I have asthma. I hate to see people who are smoking only to shorten their life expectancy. A lot of work went into making this ad. I had a difficult time morphing a picture into a slogan. I kept clicking on the wrong frame to insert "classic motion tween." Eventually after several tries, I finally got the hang of it. Putting the music was the easiest part. You have to upload the file, drag onto the stage, create its own layer, and change the properties to "play" to "stream."

Here is my awareness ad, I hope you find it useful and helpful:

4/8 Stick Figure Running on Background

This past week, I have been using Flash CS6 software to create my mini assignments in class. The most recent assignment I created was a stick figure running on background. I created my background first using paint brush and bucket and creating it in its own layer. By having different layers for different items, it creates its own space for moving the object. In order to have the person moving, I used onion skins to trace and retrace the person in different positions. In the end, it creates a motion where the person is running, jumping, climbing, and flipping.

4/3 Learning Flash Animation

For the past week, we have been learning how to use Flash Professional CS6. I am using using this software to create gifs, or a moving image. So far I had four assignments that I believed that I did fairly good on. The assignments included, "moving objects", "moving face", "moving stick figure", and "moving image on a background." I believe my best work would have to be the "moving objects." I had to create the two objects within two different layers to avoid moving them at the same time, declaring them as a symbol to avoid only moving the fill in paint, and start moving the objects in any direction. I think this work demonstrates how I fully understand using motion tween.

3/14 Welcome Message

Today, I created my very first podcast. I used the software called "Audacity" and recorded my voice saying these words: "Hi! Welcome to Joyce Ann's Learning Reflections blog. My name is Joyce Ann Taverner and this blog is about my learning at Curtis High School. I hope you enjoy the content here and share it with your friends. Thank you!" It was so simple to use (in my opinion), you just had to launch the application "Audacity", record the message by pressing the record button (the button with the red circle in the middle), save it as an MP3, upload it to this website called "archive.org" to create an audio player, copy the embedded code, going into layout; search up HTML/JavaScript, and paste the code. The player automatically went into the navigation bar of my blog.

3/13 Pivot in Windows Movie Maker

This past week, I had to use the software Windows Movie Maker to create my very first movie. Since I created my pivot animation already, I just needed to add credit slides, music, and sound effects in order to produce my movie. I thought you had to go through long process in adding the music and sound effects but it was pretty easy. I looked up tutorials on YouTube and found out in order to put audio onto the movie, you just have to find "Import Music/Audio" on the sidebar, import a song or sound effect, drag it onto the movie timeline, cut what parts that aren't necessary, and bam you are done. When I was done producing my movie, I looked back and thought "Wow, this software is really easy to use" and "My movie actually came out the way I wanted it too" I loved this lesson because I learned how to use software on a Windows computer. I have Apple products at home so using a Windows computer to create this assignment was new territory.

2/28 Pivot Animation

I was new coming into this class. I believe that my first couple of days were hectic and confusing. During this animation project, I didn't even know what a pivot or gif was. I asked my friends who are in this class to help and their assistance was greatly used. Since I'm a new student I had no idea what was happening or going on. I went with the flow of the class. Even though my background was a plain color with minimal shapes, I demonstrated my use of jumping, swinging, flipping in my animation. My interest in this class is growing everyday.
